St Louis Felony Receiving Stolen Property

As Low as $750 for Certain St Louis Felonies

When you are charged with Receiving Stolen Property in St Louis as a Class C Felony, the state is claiming that the value of the property illegally received by you was between $500 and $25,000. If the value of the received goods that were allegedly stolen was in excess of $25,000, it is a Class B Felony. And if the value was less than $500, then it is considered to be a Class A Misdemeanor.

But in order for the state to prove that you received stolen property (regardless of the value), it must show that you in fact knew (or believed) that it was stolen. In other words, just because you are charged with the crime does not mean that the prosecutor can prove that you are guilty of it.

Pleading Guilty Is Not Your Best Option!!

One of the most common ways that the state will attempt to prove that you knew the received good were stolen is by showing that you had previously received stolen goods (or that you were in possession or had control over stolen goods in the past). Another way the prosecutor might prove that the goods you received were stolen is by showing that you bought the goods for way less than it normal market value.

As you can see, there are a number of factors that play a role in making the determination of guilt or innocence. But this is why it is so very important to hire an experienced St Louis criminal defense lawyer. I've used this firm twice, both for speeding tickets. Both times it was zero hassle: just a matter of giving them the ticket. I've also recommended them to my friends, who have had the same experience. (My friends and I speed a lot.) Highly recommended. I'm sure I'll be back. David Rieken
