Kansas City MO Chapter 7 Bankruptcy - only $950

A Chapter 7 bankruptcy is most commonly described as a discharge of your unsecured debt.  This kind of debts would include:  credit cards, medical bills, payday loans, unpaid utility bills, overdrawn bank accounts, old gym memberships, old rental contracts (like from an apartment), deficiencies from a repossessed car, etc.

It will be as if these debts never existed.  The court will simply wash them away.  This will then allow you to rebuild your credit (and get back on your feet).  It is a literal fresh start / clean slate.  And if your goal is to purchase a major asset (like a house), the Chapter 7 will put you in a perfect position to do just that (a couple of years after you file).

But perhaps the most overlooked benefit of a Kansas City Missouri bankruptcy is the immediate relief you will feel.  Most the clients that we see on a daily basis are in a difficult position:  the level of stress is through the roof, the amount of time spent juggling various bills is enormous, and every aspect of their life (like work and personal relationships) is deeply affected.  But as soon as that Chapter 7 bankruptcy is filed, you will feel the sheer joy of relief wash over you!

If you currently own major assets (like real estate or a car), then it will be our job to make sure that those items can be protected.  We primarily accomplish by making use of exemptions.  The state of Missouri has a set of statutes that protect assets in a bankruptcy (either fully or partially).  For example, if you are an individual filing a Ch7, and you have a vehicle, Missouri gives you a $3,000 exemption to cover any equity that may exist in the car.

Here is an example:  let’s say you have car that is paid in full (no loan against it);  the fair market of the vehicle is $2,500;  we would then apply the $3,000 exemption, and fully protect the car (so that the Bankruptcy Trustee cannot liquidate it).

Here is another example:  you have a house with a mortgage balance of $135,000;  the value of your house (i.e. what you realistically think the house could sell for) is $150,000;  we would then apply the proper homestead exemption of $15,000 and protect your home.
